Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed on the orders of the Supreme Court, is on the lookout for Minister Vijay Shah to record his statement over objectionable remarks made against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.
The apex court has set May 28 as the deadline for the SIT to submit its first status report.
The three-member SIT, led by Sagar Zone IG Pramod Verma, with SAF DIG Kalyan Chakravarthy and Dindori SP Vahini Singh, began its investigation on May 21. The team is currently camping in Indore district, particularly near Raykundda village in Mhow, where the controversial comments were made on May 12.
Police sources said that the FIR filed on May 14 by Manpur Police—following a Madhya Pradesh High Court suo motu order—has been formally handed over to the SIT.
While the team is meeting villagers and gathering evidence, officials refused to disclose when Minister Shah would be questioned. A senior SIT member sai, “We are trying to locate him.”
