Madhya Pradesh: Several Officers Transferred Four Times In Just One And Half Years

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): More than one and a half years have passed since the state government was formed, but the bureaucrats have yet to see stability.

There are many officers whose departments have been changed four times in just one and a half years. Nevertheless, the officers are generally asked to stay in one department for two to three years.

But the officers in the state are being transferred in a few months. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Sanjay Shukla has been transferred six times in one and a half years.

When the government was formed, Shukla was looking after the Industries Department and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). Shukla was shifted from the PHED. Afterwards, he was transferred from the Industries Department and sent to Raj Bhawan.

Within two months of his posting in Raj Bhawan, he was sent back to Mantralay and handed over the Women and Child Welfare Department. He was transferred to the CM’s Secretariat and given additional charge of the mining department.

Shukla was shifted from the CM’s Secretariat to the Urban Administration and Housing Department. Now, Shukla is in the General Administration Department.

Another ACS Sanjay Dubey has been transferred several times. Dubey was initially shifted from the Energy Department to Home. He was transferred from the Home to the Science Technology Department.

Afterwards, he was also given the GAD. Now, Dubey has been transferred from GAD to the Urban Administration and Housing Department .

Similarly, the responsibilities of Principal Secretary (PS) DP Ahuja have been changed several times. After the formation of the government, he was shifted from Raj Bhawan to PWD.

As the government was angry with him, it transferred him to Fishers’ Welfare Department. Now, he has been given the charge of the cooperative department. Another PS, Sukhveer Singh, was transferred from PWD to the Horticulture Department. He was made chief electoral officer, but now he has been sent back to PWD.

PS Vivek Porwal was posted in the CM’s Secretariat, Public Relations, Revenue and Technical Education Department in the past one and a half years. Apart from them, there are more officers whose departments have been changed three times.

According to a senior officer, an officer should be shifted from a department after a certain period of time. If an officer is frequently transferred, he cannot properly implement any project, he said.

Frequent transfers lead to wastage of time: Behar

Former chief secretary Sharad Chandra Behar said an officer should be kept in one department at least for three years until there is any major issue.

Because of frequent transfers, an officer cannot understand a department, he said. Such frequent transfers lead to wastage of time for the government as well as for the officer, he said
