The police headquarters has issued an order: the cops should salute the lawmakers. The order has raised a rumpus across the state. People in the corridors of power see the hands of a minister behind the order. The police officers did not salute the minister at the two functions.

The cops' conduct enraged him. When the matter reached the higher-ups, they issued the circular. The minister is opposed to many issues. He recently wrote to the higher-ups to express his annoyance over the appointment of an officer. The government cancelled the appointment. The minister’s letter entailed discussions in the media. He is opposed to shifting an office to a building.

The office is concerned with an officer holding a constitutional position. The issue came up at a meeting presided over by the chief minister. Yet, nobody is able to understand the reason behind the minister’s annoyance.

Congress rally loses sheen

A statement from a former chief minister of the Congress has spoilt a rally. The purpose of the rally held across the country was to save the Constitution and woo the SC/ST community. The former chief minister raised a few questions over the arrangements for the rally.

He saw the stage overcrowded with party workers. The sight enraged the former CM. He even said he would not sit on the stage at any event. The former CM's remark drew a lot of media attention. Instead of discussing the Congress rally and Ambedkar, the media highlighted the former CM’s remark.

The rally organisers said the former CM should have raised the issue at any other forum. He should not have ruined the purpose of the rally.

Leaders’ agony

The BJP bosses recently called some legislators and leaders to the party office. They ticked off these leaders for breaching party discipline. The senior leaders had to gather at the party office to discipline them. Furthermore, the state party in charge had to stay in Bhopal to reprimand a legislator.

The senior leaders used to pull up a party man for breaking discipline. It is not possible now. At the meeting, a legislator told the party bosses how the officers were playing the first fiddle in districts and how their behaviour would damage the party. The legislators, called to the party office for the meeting, vented their spleen at the officers.

The senior leaders tried to quell their anger. Still, it was clear that resentment among the party men at the grassroots is deepening. Besides the areas from where the party man came to attend the meeting, there is resentment in other places across the state.

Speaking in unison

An MP and an MLA are adversaries to each other. But they are speaking the same language over an issue relating to the state capital. The Chief Minister recently held a meeting over development. The sharp-witted MLA spoke about the same issues that the MP has been raising at different forums.

The MP was unable to participate in the meeting because of illness. The legislator predicted the adverse effects of shifting an office from a particular place. The public representatives at the meeting supported the legislator’s arguments.

Then the Chief Minister told the officials to review the proposal for shifting the office. The politicians buried their differences at the meeting. The unity among them surprised the Chief Minister as well as the officers.

Big loss to minister

A minister has suffered a major loss. A person close to the minister took a huge amount from a company in advance. The money was related to a tender for a project. The minister assured the company that the conditions of the tender would be such that it would get the work. There were efforts to manage the project.

But an officer spoiled the efforts of the minister and his associate. The officer changed the conditions of the tender. As a result, the company did not participate in the bidding. Now, the officials of the company are asking for the money from the minister and his associate. The minister’s friend is telling the firm that it will get some other work. There are irregularities in tenders floated by the minister’s department. These irregularities may turn into a major scam soon.

Race for popularity

A race among many leaders of the ruling dispensation to prove who is more popular is underway. An MP and an MLA are no exception to it. Their target is to gain fame. Their means to earn popularity is issuing statements on Love Jihad.

They are also participating in protests against Love Jihad. There is, however, no end to this thoughtless race. These leaders forget they are the elected representatives of the people. They should keep away from such a race that nobody is going to win.

On the other hand, the party bosses are silently watching these gladiators fighting an imaginary bull. The bosses may restrain them at an opportune time.
