Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): GRP Itarsi on Thursday cracked the blind murder case of a woman whose body was found on the railway tracks near Paghdal railway station on June 16.
GRP arrested the woman’s husband who confessed to have killed his wife on suspicion of her having an illicit affair, officials said.
SP GRP Rahul Kumar Lodha said the police identified the body of the woman as that of Ragini Kumari of Begusarai in Bihar. A case of murder was registered after an autopsy report revealed that the woman was strangled before her body was placed on the tracks to cover up the crime.
Ragini’s kin informed that she used to live in Surat with her husband Rupesh Yadav. Police traced Rupesh’s location at Patna and rounded him up for questioning.
During interrogation, Rupesh confessed to have killed his wife as he was suspicious that she was in an illicit affair with two youths. Rupesh informed police that he first came to Bhusawal by train with his wife. They then boarded a train to Satna.
However, Rupesh alighted the train when it reached Pagdhal railway station. He took his wife to a deserted spot near the tracks and strangled her. He then threw her body under an approaching goods train to pass off the murder as a mishap.
