Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta To Link Seized Gold, Cash To Saurabh Sharma’s Assets; Accused Set For Judicial Remand

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta has decided to include the value of the gold and cash seized from the car of Chetan Singh Gaur as part of the assets linked to Saurabh Sharma's property.
On January 28, the Lokayukta police had arrested the three accused-- Saurabh Sharma, Chetan Singh Gaur, and Sharad Jaiswal -- under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Earlier, on December 19, the Lokayuktahad raided two premises of Saurabh Sharma. Later that evening, the Income Tax Department seized a car containing 52 kilogrammes of gold bars and Rs 10 crore in cash.
Following their arrests, the police are interrogating the suspects, but it is reported that they have not been cooperative with the investigation. Despite being questioned, Saurabh Sharma denied any knowledge of the seized gold and cash, stating that only Chetan Singh Gaur knew about it. According to sources, the police plan to include the value of the seized gold and cash in the accounts of Saurabh Sharma's property.
Investigations have revealed that Saurabh Sharma is the alleged mastermind behind the massive properties seized by police and the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate. As a result, the police have decided to add these assets to Sharma's property records.
Police remand of 3 accused ends today
The police remand of the three accused in the ongoing investigation is set to end on Tuesday. They will be presented before the court for further proceedings. Sources said that the investigating agency does not plan to request an extension of the remand. Instead, they will seek judicial remand for the three accused.Before appearing in court, the three accused will undergo medical examinations, said officials.
