Madhya Pradesh July 1 Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Over 25 Districts Including Shivpuri, Seoni | Representative Image

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for very heavy to heavy rainfall in more than 25 districts across the state on Tuesday. The rain might potentially exceed 8 inches of rain within 24 hours

According to the weather department, the monsoon trough is passing through Madhya Pradesh resulting in heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, a low-pressure area active over Saurashtra-Kutch in Gujarat is expected to bring in intense rain for next 4 days.

Jabalpur, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Chambal, Sagar divisions are expected to receive the maximum rainfall. There will be light rain in the districts of Indore-Ujjain division.

Rain alert in these districts today

According to the Meteorological Department, there is an orange alert for very heavy rain in Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat on Tuesday.

In the next 24 hours, up to 8 inches of rain is expected in several districts including, Sheopur, Rajgarh, Sehore, Vidisha, Betul, Raisen, Sagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Jabalpur, Maihar, Satna, Panna, Sidhi. Light rain will continue in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior.

Rain brings a sharp decline in day-time temperature

Earlier, on Monday more than 24 districts including Khajuraho, Narmadapuram and Chhindwara witnessed heavy rainfall.

In addition, Betul, Bhopal, Datia, Guna, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Burhanpur, Raisen, Dhar, Bhind, Ratlam, Mauganj, Shajapur, Mandla, Sagar, Seoni, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Balaghat experienced scattered shower accompanied by wind.

Monsoon has triggered a significant decline in the daytime temperature with Pachmarhi recording 23.2°C, Seoni 24.6°C, and Betul 25.5°C.

Weather for next 2 days

2 July: There is an alert of heavy rain in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, Dindori and Balaghat. There is a yellow alert for rain in the remaining districts as well.

3 July: There is an orange alert for very heavy rain in Sidhi, Singrauli, Katni, Dindori, Balaghat. Heavy rain may occur in Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Maihar, Shahdol, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram and Betul.
