Madhya Pradesh High Court Dismisses Teachers' Plea For Re-Evaluation At Gwalior's Jiwaji University, Says Only Re-Totalling Allowed
Seeing no major flaw in the evaluation, the court dismissed the petition, calling the university’s process transparent and within its rules.

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed the teachers’ plea seeking revaluation of answer sheets. It refused to order a fresh check of answer sheets for 15 teachers who failed their third‑semester M.Ed exam at Jiwaji University.
The court ruled that the university’s Ordinance No. 5 allows only re‑totalling of marks, not re‑evaluation, for semester‑based courses such as the M.Ed programme.

According to information, the petitioners, teachers enrolled through a state online scheme and attached to the Government PG College of Education, Gwalior had cleared their first two semesters.
When results for the November–December 2024 third semester were released, they were placed in the ATKT (Allowed to Keep Term) category, meaning they had to reappear in the papers they did not pass.
The teachers claimed the exam had questions outside the syllabus, the Hindi and English versions of one question differed, and marking was arbitrary.

They also said the university refused to give them photocopies of their answer sheets and let them view the copies only briefly.
They asked the court to order an independent review of the papers, award bonus marks for wrong questions, and pay compensation for stress and academic loss.
After hearing both sides, the court found no proof that questions were truly outside the syllabus. A minor difference between Hindi and English versions of one question was noted, but marks were given fairly.
Seeing no major flaw in the evaluation, the court dismissed the petition, calling the university’s process transparent and within its rules.
