Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Following a gun battle, the security forces managed to gun down four Left Wing Extremists in the Pachama Dadar forest range of Balaghat last Saturday.
This is the same area where, back in 2011, LWE had looted two trucks carrying ammunition in the area, officials said on Monday.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp has been established in the area to control LWE activities, they said. The four Naxalites carried a reward of Rs 14 lakh each on their heads, they said.
ADG anti-Naxal Pankaj Shrivastava told Free Press that in 2011, the Naxals looted two trucks of ammunition from the area Lagar adjoining the Pachama Dadar range.
“The site of Saturday’s gunfight was the hideout of Naxalites coming from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Their crimes, if added up, would easily cross the mark of 100,” he said.
He added that the police recovered a wireless set, a cache of arms from the site, including an INSAS rifle, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a .303 rifle, and other combat supplies, a huge amount of Naxal literature, all of which can fill up a truck.
