Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress party leaders burnt the effigies of BJP on Monday and will burn the effigies across the state on Tuesday to protest against the arrest of party leader Rahul Gandhi and others, state Congress president Jitu Patwari told media persons here on Monday.

Cops arrested 300 Members of Parliament

The police arrested 300 Members of Parliament who were protesting against the alleged vote theft in New Delhi on Monday. Patwari said party would start vote satyagraha from Rewa in which the leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and other senior party leaders would participate.

DCC presidents in MP may be announced today

A long awaited list of the new district Congress presidents was likely on Tuesday, after three top party leaders of the state attended a meeting in New Delhi, said party sources here on Monday.

To note, there are 67 district Congress units in the state. Under the Sangathan Srijan Programme of the party, AICC and MP-PCC observers had visited the districts and collected three suitable names from each for the post of president.

State general secretary Sanjay Kamle said that KC Venugopal, Rahul Gandhi and state in-charge Harish Choudhary would hold a meeting on Tuesday. Earlier the meeting was called on Monday, but due to a new political development it was re-scheduled for Tuesday.

He added that earlier the AICC leaders had met PCC president Jitu Patwari and LoP Umang Singhar for feedback about the names.

He added that probably after the meeting the leaders may announce the names of the DCC presidents.

He also informed that around 30% or 20-25 DCC presidents may get repeated in the new list, because they were working diligently.
