Madhya Pradesh Congress Protests Against ED Charge-Sheet To Rahul & Sonia Gandhi

Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): The Congressmen staged a sit-in against the charge sheet issued by ED against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the party’s Rajya Sabha member, Sonia Gandhi, on Thursday.

National spokesperson of the party Gufran Ansari, state president of the Seva Dal Gajanan Tiwari, and others participated in the demonstration at the Jaistambh Chowk in Itarsi.  

Ansari said the government was taking action against The National Herald newspaper, which played an important role in the freedom struggle. The Modi government is scared of the questions raised by the Congress leaders, so the government has made fake charges against them, Ansari further said.

Tiwari said the party organised protests against the ED action last year for a week in Delhi and in the state. National president of the Seva Dal, Lalji Bhai Desai, gave the slogan: Those who are fearless are called Gandhis. All Congressmen are with the Gandhi family, and if anything happens to them, the Congress will launch a Jail Bharo agitation, Desai said.

Former city Congress president Pankaj Rathore, who also participated in the protest, said the Modi government targeted only opposition leaders to divert people’s attention from the real issues.

The Modi government has failed to act against the Adanis, the Ambanis, and Madhavi Buch, he said. The government is scared of the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, he said. A senior Congress leader, Ashok Jain, said the Modi government failed to arrest prices, unemployment problems, and tackle other issues.

BJP burns effigy of Sonia, Rahul

The members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) burnt the effigies of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha member Sonia Gandhi at Indira Chowk, Narmadapuram, on Thursday.

BJYM district president Deepak Mahalha said ED issued a charge sheet to Sonia and Rahul, but the Congress blamed the ruling party for it. The members of BJYM burnt the effigies of Sonia and Rahul. Mandal president of BJYM Sundaram Agarwal said the National Herald scam took place during the Congress rule, but the party was spreading lies.

The National Herald came to light in 2012 when the Congress was in government. BJYM state general secretary Pranshu Rane, BJP district president Prasanna Harne, and a large number of party workers participated in the protest.
