Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday performed bhumi pujan for the proposed Bhoj-Narmada Gate at Samardha on Hoshangabad Road in Bhopal.

He also inaugurated a 10-MW solar power plant in Neemuch, commissioned under the first phase of Bhopal Municipal Corporations solar energy project.

Highlighting the cultural significance, Yadav said state was known for its glorious history and brave rulers like emperor Vikramaditya and king Bhoj.

He added that gates named after legendary figures would showcase Madhya Pradesh’s rich heritage and lend an aesthetic appeal to Bhopal.

The ceremonial event marks the beginning of beautification and heritage revival project in the city. Those present at the function minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, MP Alok Sharma, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, mayor Malti Rai and BMC president Kishan Suryavanshi.

According to BMC officials, two grand gates are being constructed in the city. The Bhoj-Narmada Gate will be located on Hoshangabad Road, using red stone at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore and is expected to be completed within six months. Another gate will be named Vikramaditya Gate, which is planned for Indore-Bhopal Road.

The Corporation has passed a proposal for these structures and is also planning similar heritage-themed gates on Bairasia Road, Raisen Road, Kolar Road, Vidisha Road and Mubarakpur.
