Madhya Pradesh August 1 2025 Weather Updates: No Heavy Rain Alert for Next 4 Days; State Achieves 74% Of Monsoon Quota

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is going to receive a light rainfall on Friday, as there is no alert for heavy rain anywhere in the state.

So far, the state has received 28 inches of rainfall so far this monsoon season, which is 74% of its total quota. 

The eastern parts of the state - including Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions - have seen heavy rainfall, causing flood-like situations. 

However, the spell of heavy rain has now paused, and there is no alert for heavy rainfall in the next four days due to the absence of any strong weather system.

What do meteorologists say?

According to the Meteorological Department, light rainfall is expected in most parts of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur on Friday. No heavy rain is predicted.

Senior meteorologists said that although light rain was reported in some districts on Thursday, no heavy rainfall is expected anywhere in the state over the next four days. Once the monsoon system becomes active again, heavy rain may return.

The Meteorological Department reports that the eastern region has received 62% more rain, while the western region has received 55% more than average.

Overview of other states

In the past two to three days, Raisen district witnessed very heavy rainfall. Though the rain paused on Thursday, the situation remained critical. The Betwa River swelled and submerged nearby fields, temples, and bridges.

In Sheopur, the bodies of an uncle and nephew who were swept away in the Parvati River were found clinging to each other in a field. In Shivpuri, Sakhya Sagar Lake in Madhav Tiger Reserve overflowed. 

In Sagar Deori Kalan area, a woman was swept away in the Ramghat drain. A 30-member NDRF team was deployed for the search. Vandana Sahu was returning home after prayers on Nag Panchami when she was swept away by the strong water flow.

In Khandwa, 12 gates of the Indira Sagar Dam were opened to release excess water - 8 gates by 4 meters and four by 3.5 meters. The power station is generating electricity at full capacity, leading to flood-like conditions in the Narmada River. Water reached the ancient Jabreshwar Mahadev Temple in Mortakka. Locals say that every year, Narmada River performs a symbolic “jalabhishek” of the temple deity.
