Satna (Madhya Pradesh): A 64-year-old woman was axed to death and her son was critically injured in an attack in Bakot village under Baraunda police station limit in Satna district at 1 am on Sunday.
According to police station incharge Abhinav Singh, the victims identified as Minta Verma and her 22-year-old son Lakhan Verma were sleeping in a hut on the edge of their farmland in Gram Panchayat Khohi when unidentified assailants attacked them with axe. Minta died on the spot, while Lakhan was rushed to the district hospital with serious injuries.

Following initial investigations, police detained three suspects from the village. It has been revealed that the accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
The police have sent Minta Verma’s body for post-mortem and are continuing their probe to determine the cause of the crime.
The brutal nature of the attack has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting heightened security and vigilance in the area.
