Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Arrested for murder of his live-in partner Ritika Sen, Sachin Rajput had planned to dispose of her body at a deserted location and then lodge a missing person complaint, police investigations have revealed.
Police said the incident began with a scuffle between the couple on June 27. In a fit of rage, Sachin allegedly strangulated Ritika at his rented home in Gayatri Nagar. Believing she was unconscious, he left to meet a friend. Upon returning, he was shocked to find her dead.
Sachin then began to plan the disposal of the body. He tied Ritika’s hands and legs with mobile charging cables, wrapped her in a sack, then covered the body with a sari and two blankets, finally sealing it in a polythene sack.
On June 30, he called his friend Anuj Upadhyay, confessed to the murder, and sought help in arranging a vehicle to dump the body at a remote location. Initially disbelieving him, Anuj called police after a second call from Sachin confirming the crime. Acting on this tip-off, Bajaria police recovered Ritika’s body the same day.
Although Sachin claimed the killing was unintentional, police said his detailed efforts to hide the body and mislead investigators pointed to premeditation. He had even planned to later blame Ritika’s new boss, Pawan Sharma, for the murder once her body was discovered.
Ritika got Sachin out of jail
Sachin had a love marriage in 2018, but soon fell out with his wife. In 2021, she filed a domestic violence case and sought maintenance. Sachin was arrested after refusing to pay and spent 15 days in jail.
It was Ritika—then his employee—who arranged his bail and helped him get released. The two began living together after his release.
Sachin sent to jail
Bajaria police station in-charge Shilpa Kauravsaid that Sachin’s remand ended on July 2, following which he was sent to jail under judicial custody.
During interrogation, Sachin told police he felt betrayed in love twice—first by his wife who filed a legal case, and then by Ritika, whom he suspected of having an affair with her new boss. He claimed Ritika was only with him for financial support and had left him after finding someone else in a similar position of power.
