Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress on Wednesday stepped up its campaign against alleged 'vote chori' claiming manipulations of votes in 2023 Assembly elections.
“In 60 Assembly constituencies over 25000 to 60,000 votes were manipulated, and the Congress will shortly expose the entire anomaly,” said Congress state president Jitu Patwari while talking to media persons here on Wednesday.
The Election Commission has issued three voter lists during the elections, first when the election schedule was announced, second when the candidates had filed the nominations and the third when the polling was done, stated Patwari.
The PCC chief also claimed that the website of Madhya Pradesh chief electoral officer was not working ever since Rahul Gandhi raised the vote theft issue.
Member of Parliament Vivek Tankha clarified that the party was not against the poll panel but only wanted to help it by highlighting the electoral irregularities.
“We are trying to help the ECI, in many states fake voters are present, like in Karnataka around 1 lakh voters are suspicious, we don’t want to fight with the Commission,” said the Congress leader.
Series of demonstration
Congress has planned a series of rallies and protests from August 14 to October 15 across the state over ‘vote theft’. On Thursday a rally will be taken out in Gwalior and on Independence Day a rally in Bhopal.
