Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A youth raped a 19\-year-old teenager on pretext of marriage and attempted to force her to change her religion. On the complaint of the girl, an FIR has been registered against the accused and his mother at Chhola Mandir police station.
According to reports, the victim, a resident of Chhola Mandir area and belonging to the minority community first met the accused identified as Badal Soni aka Chris in October 2024. They exchanged their mobile numbers and had an affair after some meetings.
The victim claimed that Badal took her to his home in Kalyan Nagar and raped her on promise of marrying her soon. Badal then sexually exploited the victim multiple times at a room in Itkhedi area. However, he lingered on to his promise of marriage.
Recently, the victim began pressuring Badal for marriage but he and his mother Bharti asked her to change her religion before marriage could take place. They also issued threats to her when she refused.
In-charge at Chhola Mandir police station Suresh Nagar said a case has been registered under rape, Freedom of Religion Act and other relevant sections of BNS. Efforts were underway to trace and arrest the accused, he added.
Upset over exam failure, girl kills self
Upset after failing to clear Class 12 examinations conducted Central Board of Secondary Education, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her room. The incident took place under Aishbagh police station limits on Friday night.
According to reports, Housing Board Colony resident Shivani had appeared in Class 12 CBSE examination. However, she failed in the examination in the results declared recently. She was suffering from depression since then.
On Friday night, Shivani hanged herself in her room. The family members rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. Aishbag police station incharge Vijay Sengar said no suicide note was recovered from the spot but the girl’s kin claim that she was upset as she had failed in the examinations. Further investigations are underway.
