Gas Leak At GAIL Plant In Madhya Pradesh's Raisen Controlled After 10 Hours; No Casualty Reported

Gas Leak at GAIL Plant Near Bhopal Under Control, No Casualties Reported |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A major case of gas leak was reported from GAIL plant in Mandideep in Raisen district around midnight on Tuesday. The leak was detected around 12 am.
As soon as informed, emergency teams rushed to the site. The leak was brought under control by 10 am on Wednesday morning after hours of effort.
Regarding the matter, GAIL Project Manager D. Dongre said that the situation was fully under control and there was no risk of any major damage. He confirmed that there was no need to shut down schools or evacuate more areas.
NDRF, SDRF rushes to rescue
According to information, teams from NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) also reached the spot.
Later, as precaution, officials set up barricades and restricted movement within a one-kilometer radius of the plant. Firefighters from Mandideep municipality were called in, and nearby areas were evacuated. Local police, home guards, and other officials were also deployed.
A safety team from Jaipur arrived to conduct a safety audit of the plant.
Additionally, Collector Arun Vishwakarma, SDM Chandrashekhar Srivastava, SDPO Sheela Surana, and Naib Tehsildar Nilesh Sarvate visited the plant to review the situation.

Raisen Collector Vishwakarma said the gas leak began around midnight, but they were informed by 5 am. The leak has now been stopped, and the area has been sanitized. He added that the situation is not serious, and a safety audit is being conducted. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be prepared to prevent such incidents in the future.
SP Pankaj Pandey said a detailed investigation will be carried out to find the exact cause of the gas leak.
