Gardens Should Be Developed On Vacant Land Of Universities, Govt Depts: MP CM Mohan Yadav |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed that district-wise mapping of horticulture crops should be conducted in the state. A work plan should be prepared for developing gardens on vacant lands of universities and other government departments and for establishing nurseries under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The CM was addressing a review meeting of Horticulture and Food Processing Department at CM House on Thursday. Mohan Yadav emphasised on organising district-level workshops and fairs focused on horticulture and food processing to familiarise farmers and entrepreneurs with best practices from other districts.
A summit on horticulture and food processing, similar to Investors’ Summit, should also be organised in the state. The CM highlighted that the state government is implementing various initiatives to increase the area under horticultural crops.
With favourable geography, adequate irrigation and electricity availability, Madhya Pradesh aims to surpass the national average in horticulture. A region-specific work plan should be created for promoting horticultural activities in Chambal, Malwa and Mahakaushal.
Officials informed that an upcoming Horticulture Industry Conclave will be held next month in Neemuch and Mandsaur, focusing on medicinal agriculture.
