Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Health services must implement a digital mechanism to effectively support the criminal justice system, said Justice Sanjeev S Kalgaonkar while addressing a workshop on ICJS Implementation and Digital Integration in Bhopal on Sunday.
Justice Kalgaonkar said that data entry operators often fail to make accurate entries, highlighting the importance of digitally enabled systems in health services to avoid such errors.
He cautioned the police department and related agencies to prepare their own server, cloud, data centre and disaster management systems, as the current setup will soon become obsolete due to increasing volume of data.
He called on all stakeholders to set aside egos and work with a collaborative spirit to strengthen the criminal justice system.

Kalgaonkar praised Madhya Pradesh Police for pioneering the e-summon system, which has now been adopted by other states. He said,"MP is a pioneer in preparing e-summon, and now other states are following."
He criticised officials who avoid using smartphones. “Those who don’t use smartphones today are either Sadhus or Shaitans. One doesn’t use it out of detachment, the other avoids it to escape the justice system,” he said
Outlining the objective of the workshop, Additional Director General (SCRB) Jaideep Prasad said that it is an effort to strengthen digital coordination and data interoperability among police, prosecution, judiciary, prisons, forensics and health departments under the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
He said the workshop aimed to identify challenges and gaps in the current system and build a roadmap for better implementation.
