Chief Secretaries Of Two States Get Extension; UP Out, Now, It Is Time For MP
Anurag Jain is retiring this month; bureaucracy is abuzz with discussions over his extension
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Secretary Anurag Jain is retiring on August 31, and the state bureaucracy is abuzz with discussions over the extension of the tenure of his service.
The Central Government recently extended the tenure of services of the chief secretaries of Haryana and Chhattisgarh. Nevertheless, the chief secretary of UP was not given an extension of service.
A decision has to be taken on the extension of the chief secretaries of MP, Maharashtra, and Bihar. Chief Secretary of Haryana Anurag Rastogi, who retired on June 30, was given a one-year extension on June 30.
On the other hand, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Amitabh Jain, who also retired on June 30, was given an extension of three months.
The Yogi Adityanath-led government sent a proposal for giving an extension to former chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, but the Central Government turned down the proposal. Afterwards, SP Goyal was appointed chief secretary of the state.
Before this, although there is a Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena was given an extension of three months on the state government’s recommendations.
Similarly, the chief secretary of the BJP-led Odisha government, Manoj Ahuja, was given an extension of one year from January this year. Because of the Bihar assembly election, Chief Secretary Amritlal Meena is set to get an extension.
Likewise, since Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Rajesh Meena has worked only for two months, he will also get an extension. Because the MP Chief Secretary has worked only for 11 months, there are possibilities that Jain will get an extension.
There are two points of view in the bureaucratic circle about Jain’s extension. A section of officers says Jain is set to get an extension, but others feel everything depends on what Chief Minister Mohan Yadav wants.
Jain was appointed as CS because of the Central Government’s wish, so the centre will take a decision on his extension.
Out of six, four ex-chief secretaries get extension in past few years
Out of six former chief secretaries in the state, four were given an extension in past few years. They were: R Parshuram, BP Singh, Iqbal Singh Bains and Veera Rana. Anthony de Sa was, however, not given any extension.
S R Mohanty and M Gopal Reddy, who were the chief secretaries during the Congress rule, had been removed before they completed their tenure.
