Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed near Jargama Sani Sunari outpost in the Karera police station area of Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on Thursday.
According to information, the twin seater aircraft Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft crashed in a field in Shivpuri district, during a routine training sortie.
Both pilots sustained injuries in the crash. Local police and Air Force officials quickly reached the spot and sent them to hospital for treatment.
A photo of one of the injured pilots has surfaced, showing him talking on the phone while being assisted by local villagers.

Karera Police Station in-charge Vinod Chhawai confirmed that there were two pilots on board. Both ejected safely before the crash using parachutes and are unharmed.
The crashed immediately caused a fire which engulfed and destroyed the jet completely. A large number of villagers gathered at the spot after noticing the smoke.
As soon as the Air Force received the information, a rescue team arrived at the crash site by helicopter and took the pilots to Gwalior for medical evaluation. The jet had taken off from Gwalior before the accident.
According to defense officials, a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the crash. Also, the Air Force has ordered an investigation into the incident.
Police and administration officials reached the crash site. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
