Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman allegedly bit off a portion of her husband’s nose during a heated argument at their residence in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal late on Monday night.
The woman was reportedly suspicious of her husband’s alleged extramarital affair. She attacked him after a dispute over his late return home.
According to Bajaria police station in-charge, Shilpa Kaurav, the victim is a businessman and the owner of a reputed firm in Bhopal. The couple has been married for nearly a decade.
However, for the past few weeks, the woman had reportedly grown increasingly suspicious of her husband’s activities and had frequent arguments with him on the matter.
On Monday night, when the husband returned home, he cited work, when the wife confronted him. What began as an argument soon escalated into an violent altercation.
In a fit of rage, the woman allegedly bit her husband’s nose so severely that a part of it got severed, causing profuse bleeding and significant injury.
Husband reached office bleeding
Despite being in pain and bleeding, the husband reportedly rushed to the Bajaria police station to file a complaint. He was later taken for medical treatment.
Doctors said that the nasal injury was serious and may require reconstructive surgery.
Acting on the husband’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the wife under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway.
Police have not yet taken the woman into custody but stated that she will be questioned soon. They are also interrogating neighbors and family members to ascertain the reason behind the assault.
