Panna (Madhya Pradesh): In a bizarre incident, a 32-year-old man arrived at Madhya Pradesh Panna District Hospital carrying his 'chopped off' finger in a plastic bag, after he was bitten by a venemous snake, on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident unfolded in Panna's Siddhpur village under Ajaygarh police station limits. Here, a man identified as Ramkishore Lodh was bitten by a venomous Cobra on his finger while repairing a kutcha house.
In an attempt to prevent the venom from spreading in the body, Ramkishore took a prompt and bold step!
He cut off his own finger using a sharp object to stop the venom from circulating through his body.
Victim travelled 32 kms for hospital
According to the information, Ramkishore was repairing a kutcha house, when a poisonous Cobra camouflaged in the soil attacked him. In an attempt to save himself from the poison, Ramkishore chopped-off his own finger with a sharp betel nut cracker.
He further wrapped his sliced finger with plastic and travelled 32 kms on a bike to reach Panna district hospital.
Ramkishore said, "I was working to repair a kutcha house, totally unaware about a snake's presence. The snake bit me and to prevent the venom from spreading I myself had to slice off my finger with a betel nut cracker".
"The snake was 1 metre long and was venomous, further I had to kill the snake as it climbed up a wall," he added.
Doctors in effort to re-attach finger
Ramkishore is currently admitted to the district hospital and is undergoing treatment.
According to the doctors, his condition is stable. However, the doctors are saying that Ramkishore will have to undergo surgery and will try to reattach the finger but the chances of success are very low due to the way it was cut and the time elapsed.
