The authorities are also planning to add more golf carts to the fleet for the convenience of the passengers.

Van Vihar, Bhopal |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): To put a lid on noise and air pollution, Van Vihar National Park has decided to prohibit the entry of private petrol- and diesel-run vehicles from September onwards. Private electric vehicles, however, will be allowed.
The final date to shut entry of private vehicles will be decided shortly.
The visitors can take bicycles for a stroll at the wildlife park. They can also rent golf carts at Van Vihar. Rent charges for the golf carts are yet to be decided.
Director of Van Vihar, Vijay Kumar, said that the private vehicle not only causes pollution but also disturbs the animals with its speed and horns. The noise pollution leaves adverse effects on the behavior of animals. Thus, it has been decided to ban the private vehicles inside the park.
E-vehicles allowed
The authorities are also planning to add more golf carts to the fleet for the convenience of the passengers.
“Currently Van Vihar has 16 golf carts, and the effort is to increase the number to 40. This will help in catering to a maximum number of tourists and also reduce the wait time,” he said.
He said that private vehicle owners will be asked to park their vehicles outside gate number-2. For the visit inside the park, they can either choose to hire cycles or golf carts. Private e-vehicles will be allowed, he added.
