Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police arrested Mohammad Faizan alias Chikna, a notorious criminal carrying a Rs 2,000 reward, after he has been absconding for over 18 months.
He was caught wielding a sharp sword and spreading panic in the Indra Nagar, Tila Jamalpura police said here on Monday. Faizan was presented in court on Monday. Further legal proceedings are underway.
According to police officials, Faizan has a long criminal history with 22 cases include murder and robbery, registered against him in Bhopal and Raisen. Acting on a tip-off, police surrounded the area near Salman Baba Gali in Indra Nagar and arrested Faizan.
During interrogation, he confessed his identity as a resident of Rais Radio, Indra Nagar. Police recovered a sword from his possession and registered a case under the Arms Act.
Nashe Se Doori, Hai Jaruri from today
The narcotics wing of state police has launched a massive public awareness campaign, Nashe Se Doori, Hai Jaruri, towards making the state drug-free. The campaign will be conducted across the state from July 15th to 30, said officials here on Monday.
Additional Director General of Police (Narcotics) KP. Venkateswara Rao said that the main objective of this campaign was to make teenagers and youths aware of the ill effects of drug addiction, to keep them away from this addiction and to guide those who are already in the grip of drug addiction towards rehabilitation by providing proper counselling and support.
