According to information, the city's Boat Club is ready to strengthen its charm with the arrival of 10 beautiful Shikaras from Kashmir, bringing a slice of the valley's serenity to the city.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Imagine Bhopal’s beautiful lakes with sunset in the backdrop, and then Kashmir’s traditionally decorated wooden boats called ‘Shikara’ floating on them carrying you with your loved ones.
This imagination now is going to come true as Bhopal is all set to host Kashmir-like Shikara rides very soon.
According to information, the city's Boat Club is ready to strengthen its charm with the arrival of 10 beautiful Shikaras from Kashmir, bringing a slice of the valley's serenity to the city.
An additional 10 Shikaras are expected to arrive soon.
This move comes after a 1.5-year ban on motor boats and cruises, which had severely impacted Bhopal’s tourism - visitor numbers dropped from over 5000 per day to just 500.
Now, MP Tourism is aiming to revive the buzz by introducing peaceful Shikara rides at the Upper Lake. Decoration work is currently underway, and official rides will begin soon, offering Bhopal residents and tourists a Kashmir-style boating experience.
What is a Shikara?
Shikara boats are traditional wooden boats commonly found on the Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir. They are one of the most iconic symbols of Kashmiri culture and tourism.
Shikara ride offers a calm and scenic experience, gliding gently over the lake with picturesque views of the Himalayas, houseboats, and Mughal gardens - often described as the Venice of the East.
Now that Bhopal has introduced Shikara rides on Upper Lake, residents and visitors can enjoy a mini-Kashmir experience in the City of Lakes.
This initiative aims to boost tourism and provide a new recreational option for families, couples, and photography lovers.
With the sunset casting golden reflections on the lake and the gentle sway of the Shikara, Bhopal’s evening vibes are set to become more magical.
