Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have busted a gang involved in multiple cases of chain snatching and committed two robberies in different areas of the city within 30 minutes on July 2. Police recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 2.8 lakh, Koh-e-Fiza police said here on Monday.
According to police reports, the arrests were made following two complaints. On July 2, at about 8 pm, a woman walking near Green Acres Colony was attacked by bike-borne miscreants who snatched her gold chain. Another woman Rimjhim Saxena complained of similar incident near Vijay Nagar the same night.
Acting swiftly, a police team was formed. CCTV footage were checked from around the crime scenes and identified three suspects on a bike. A detailed route map of their escape was created leading to arrest of gang leader Yusuf Khan alias Chuchu (21), Nadeem Khan (19), a juvenile, and Aasiya B (linked to the pledged stolen chain).
Police station incharge KG Shukla told media persons that after looting two gold chains, Yusuf handed one to his wife, who mortgaged it at a private gold loan finance company in Ashoka Garden for Rs 1.15 lakh. The money was spent on shopping, toys, travel, and modifying their bike with Rs 9,000.
