Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal cops disguised themselves as ‘sadhus’ to hunt for an accused of POCSO Act who was living at Mahakumbh pretending to be a seer. The arrested man, Nilesh Kumar Dubey, is a teacher accused of molesting and abetting suicide of a minor girl in the Sukhi Sewania area of Bhopal rural.
The case against Dubey, 25, was registered on January 30 after he allegedly molested a 15-year-old girl at a school in Sukhi Sewania. Thereafter, the girl consumed a poisonous substance and later died while undergoing treatment.
Dubey, hailing from Alipur village in Kaimur district, had been on the run since the incident, prompting police to declare a reward of ?10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
SP Bhopal (rural) Pramod Kumar Sinha said that a police team led by SDOP Bilkhiriya, Priya Sindhi, raided Dubey’s home in Alipur but discovered he was living at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj under the guise of a saint.
The police team disguised themselves as sadhus and roamed around the Mela area for six days before confirming Dubey's presence there with some villagers from his hometown.
However, Dubey fled before the police could apprehend him at Mahakumbh. Following his trail, the police team eventually arrested him from his home in Bihar on Friday.
