Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Commuters faced major disruptions on Wednesday morning as the Pul Bogda (Bogda bridge) road was completely closed due to the ongoing construction under the second phase of Bhopal Metro’s Orange Line.
Authorities concerned said that traffic woes may continue for up to a year until the Metro construction work in the area is completed.
The Metro Corporation has erected barricades near Pul Bogda making the stretch inaccessible for all vehicles, including two-wheelers and also pedestrians.
According to city traffic police the road had been made one-way about 20 days ago, but with pillar construction now underway, the area has been fully sealed off. This move has forced a complete traffic diversion on key connecting routes, especially those heading towards Bharat Talkies and Jinsi via Pul Bogda.
With the bridge now closed, the major routes like Prabhat square to Bharat Talkies via Pul Bogda, Prabhat square to Jinsi, Dharm Kanta, and Maida Mill via Pul Bogda are restricted for vehicular movement.
After this the city traffic police started new diversion routes will be for heavy and medium vehicles, including buses, will now be rerouted via Parihar square (Ashoka Garden), 80 Feet Road, Station Bajaria Tiraha, Sangam Talkies Tiraha, and Bharat Talkies overbridge.
Vehicles returning from Bharat Talkies or Platform No. 6 will follow the reverse of this route to reach Prabhat Chauraha.
Light vehicles are also allowed to use these alternative paths.
Additional DCP Traffic Basant Kaul said that traffic woes may continue for up to a year until Metro construction in the area is completed. Authorities urge commuters to plan accordingly and follow diversions to avoid congestion.
