Bhopal Metro Project: Identified Structures Of Irani Dera, Patra Shops To Be Removed
Metro Rail Corporation has deposited Rs 1.25 crore to be given to people to shift their household goods and articles from shop.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): To pave way for the Metro project, identified structures of Irani Dera (nestled near old railway station) and wooden shops situated along the Patra Nullah road would be removed. Compensation would be provided to occupants before its removal. It is learnt that evacuation notice has been served to occupants.
Sources in Metro Rail Corporation said that the district administration would carry out the exercise to remove identified structures coming in the way of the Metro project. Meanwhile, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Deepak Pandey told Free Press that for the Metro project, structures of Irani Dera including shops and houses need to be removed.

From Metro Rail Corporation’s side, information has been given to occupants. There are around 50 to 60 shops in Irani Dera along with some houses which need to be removed. Once compensation is given, work of removing structures would begin. Along with this, wooden shops situated alongside Patra Nullah road will also be removed for the Metro project. There are over 30 identified wooden shops.
Sources in Metro Rail Corporation said that a sum of Rs 1.25 crore has been deposited with the local administration so that it could be given to inhabitants of houses or shops for shifting their household or shop items. Later, the compensation amount will be fixed. It is up to the district administration where to relocate people or shopkeepers.

Moreover, Metro officials are in touch with the district administration and passing them information on structures in other areas which are coming in the way of the Metro project and needs to be shifted somewhere else.
Two new sets of Metro in March
Metro officials are hopeful to receive two new sets of Metro train with coaches in the month of March. Currently, there are five metro train sets in Bhopal. The metro officials are working to finish civil and other works of the project on time. They intend to begin the commercial operation of Metro in the city in the middle of next year.
