Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested a conman who cheated dozens of unemployed youth by offering fake telecaller jobs in the name of Amazon.
The accused has been identified as Nabeel Siddiqui, a resident of Taliya area in Bhopal, who has scammed over 80 people till date.
According to police, Nabeel had previously worked as a telecaller at Amazon's Pune branch. Using his experience, he created a fake email ID posing as Amazon and sent fake job joining letters to unemployed youths.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Nabeel used to promise batch hiring. First, he claimed the company needed 30 candidates, then increased the number to 50, and later 100, to collect money from as many people as possible.

According to investigations, Nabeel initially prepared a batch of 30 and claimed they would be hired at Amazon’s Pune office. He kept delaying the process, saying hiring would only happen once the required number of candidates was met. Many people fell into his trap.
As job appointments kept getting delayed, some candidates grew suspicious and decided to verify the offer with Amazon. That’s when they found out the job offer was fake. They immediately reported the matter to the Crime Branch.
Police had been searching for Nabeel for a year as he was on the run. After his arrest, investigators are now trying to find out if he was working alone or if an organised gang was involved. They are also tracing his whereabouts during his time in hiding and the people he was in contact with.
The investigation is ongoing.
