Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Three members of an inter-state burglary gang were arrested and stolen property worth approximately ₹1.5 crore recovered, said Kolar and Katara Hills police here on Thursday.

According to police reports, the accused, identified as Yashwant Raghuvanshi (30), Bhupendra Sahu (29) and Abhilash Vishwakarma (33) were nabbed from Vidisha, Raisen and Bhopal, respectively.

Police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra told a press conference that the gang meticulously targeted vacant homes, called in accomplices from other states and housed them in local hotels or residences before committing thefts. Post-theft, they mortgaged stolen gold with a private finance company, Mandideep, to raise funds for online trading.

Acting on a lead from a theft in Danish Kunj on the night of May 13–14, police traced a suspicious white Hyundai Aura using CCTV camera footage. This led them to the suspects, who confessed during interrogation to four thefts, three in Kolar and one in Katara Hills.

The seized goods include gold and silver jewellery worth ₹22 lakh, ₹24,000 in cash, two cars (Hyundai Aura and Swift Dzire), and transaction records totaling ₹60 lakh. An additional ₹40 lakh worth of gold mortgaged with a private gold finance company has been frozen pending investigation.

The operation was led by ACP Anjali Raghuvanshi under the direction of the police commissioner and other senior officials. The search for the remaining gang members is ongoing and more theft cases are likely to be solved based on  financial trails and confessions of the arrested accused.
