Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): On alert after a series of incidents where youths drowned while taking bath in water bodies of the city, police officials have issued instructions for deployment of police personnel and routine patrolling at such spots.
It is worth mentioning that during the past ten days, around half a dozen persons have drowned at separate spots including Kerwa Dam. On Sunday, an 18-year- old ITI student drowned at Kerwa Dam while taking bath while trader Rajesh Jain disappeared soon after he went into the water at Upper Lake at Sheetaldas Ki Bagia.
Both bodies were later recovered by divers. Earlier, an Ayurveda student drowned at Prempura Ghat while he was taking bath in the Upper Lake.
Locals said that with rising temperature, youths frequently reach the banks of Upper Lake, Lower Lake, Kerwa Dam etc to take bath. However, unknown of the depth they enter the water and drown.

During the past few years there have been a series of such incidents at Lower Lake at Khatlapura and Upper Lake at Sheetaldas Ki Bagia, Karbala, Prempura, Bhadbhada etc. Moreover, dozens of youths have also drowned at Kerwa and Kaliasot dams.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said in view of such incidents, instructions have been issued to concerned police stations to deploy personnel at spots where such incidents occur frequently.
Other such places are being identified and cops have been asked to patrol them on routine basis to ensure that no one takes bath in water bodies. Moreover, boards have been put up with a warning at many such spots, he added.
