Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Two journalists from Bhind have alleged that SP Asit Yadav beat them up. The journalists Amarkant Singh Chouhan and Shashikant Jatav made such allegations against the SP in Bhopal on Saturday.
They said the SP had called them to the office and got them beaten up. They further said a sub-inspector had hit them with a chappal on the SP’s instructions. The duo said they had shown a report published against the police.
The journalists said they and their families had to leave the district because of the SP. They came to the state capital to meet the senior police officers. The Congress has also opened a front against the government over the issue.
MPCC president Jitu Patwari spoke to the journalists on a video call. The police beat up journalists because they raise questions over the sand mafias, Patwari said.
"If the journalists are facing such problems, what will happen to the common man? he said. “Is it the BJP’s new democracy?” Patwari said. Patwari wanted to know whether the Chief Minister would speak about the issue or keep mum. The Free Press tried to contact the SP over the issue. But he did not take the call.
