Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A series of shocking incidents were reported from Bageshwar Dham-- a religious places where lakhs of devotees visit for blessings and peace.

After an ambulance carrying over a dozen women from Bageshwar Dham was caught on MP-UP border two days ago, the temple committee expressed concerns on criminal elements taking shelter in the crowd of devotees on Thursday. They said that some people were hiding their real identity and staying at the dham since a long time. They indulged in thefts, chain-snatching and other illegal activities.

After receiving several complaints, the committee and police checked their details and found the allegations to be true. And when they were asked to leave, some said they didn’t have money to return home. The committee claimed it arranged transport to drop them at nearby bus stands or railway stations.

Among these, a group of 13 women were being taken in an ambulance on Monday night.

A volunteer from the dham told police that the women were suspected of chain-snatching and theft and were being dropped at Mahoba railway station in Uttar Pradesh.

However, the other side of the story came out through a viral video on Thursday.

Another video surfaced on Thursday, in which some of these women alleged they were mistreated, dragged by their hair, and forced into the ambulance. One woman even claimed that the people involved were trying to kill them.

The video shows the women upset and confused, saying they had no idea where they were being taken.

The temple committee has claimed that some people were involved in suspicious and illegal activities inside the dham. Acting on repeated complaints, the committee, along with police, identified around 54 people, mostly women, who were allegedly staying at the dham by hiding their identity.

According to the Bageshwar Jan Seva Samiti, some of these women were selling garlands and other items while keeping their real identity and background hidden. The temple committee said such people were disturbing the peace and order of the dham.

Ball in police's court!

The video also features a woman, believed to be from the temple side and part of the group transporting the 13 women, answering with a smile when asked where she was from. She replied, “From Bageshwar Dham.”

Now, with two completely different versions, one from the temple and one from the women, serious questions have arise.

The truth behind what really happened remains unclear, and all eyes are now on the authorities to investigate and bring out the full picture.
