Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An American woman was caught carrying GPS tracking device at Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport during security check on Friday.
The woman was returning from the famous Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh. She was taking the flight from Jabalpur and was on her way back to the United States via Delhi.
During a routine luggage check, airport security discovered the GPS device in her bag. When questioned, the woman said her family had given her the device for her safety and location tracking. She also said she did not know that carrying such a device was not allowed in India.
Due to her age and the fact that her next flight was an international one, the security team allowed her to leave after a detailed inquiry. However, the GPS device was seized.
After the incident, Ranjhi CSP Satish Sahu and his team arrived at the airport and questioned the foreign national.
Investigations showed that she had first arrived in Delhi, then traveled to Jabalpur and later to Bandhavgarh.
Surprisingly, the GPS device was not noticed at any other airport during her journey, raising concerns about airport security checks.
