9-Year-Old Girl Raped After Being Lured With Mangoes In MP's Datia, Accused On The Run

Datia (Madhya Pradesh): A 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped on pretext of having mangoes in Madhya Pradesh's Datia on Monday.

The incident took place in the Goraghat police station area of the district.

According to information, the accused lured her with mangoes and took her to a lonely place, a hut in his field, where he raped her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

The child, scared and in shock, did not share the incident with her family but told her friend. The friend later informed the victim’s mother, and only then the case came to light.

The mother lodged a complaint at the Goraghat police station.

According to the police, the girl had been playing with her brother near a village temple when the accused, Ramgopal Rajput, approached them. He offered mangoes to both and took them to his field.

There, he gave the girl mangoes and made her sit on a cot before sexually assaulting her.

The girl’s mother stated that her daughter is frightened and not speaking to anyone. Doctors have advised complete rest.

Based on the girl’s statement, police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections related to rape.

Station in-charge Kamal Goyal informed that the accused is a married man and is currently absconding.

A search is underway to arrest him soon.
