Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Ten gates of Deori Dam and nine gates of Lahchura Dam were opened in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district on Saturday.
This was done after over six inches of rainfall caused the Dhasan River to swell, triggering flood-like conditions along the MP-UP border.

A discharge of 2.88 lakh cusecs of water was released into the river to manage the rising water levels.
The district administration swung into action with SDM and other officials inspecting nearby villages including Chapran, Lahdara, and Madori. People living in low-lying areas, especially those in old Chapran village, have been advised to evacuate as a safety measure.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district, where the Dhasan flows further, alerts have been issued in riverside villages such as Tapran, Lilwa, and Kashipura.
The irrigation department confirmed that 1.28 lakh cusecs of water is being released from Lahchura Dam alone to protect the dam structure.
Mahoba SP Prabal Pratap Singh visited the site, reviewed the situation, and instructed local police to keep a close watch on villages near the river.
