Skoda Auto India has taken a major step toward strengthening its presence in the mass market by appointing Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh as its first-ever brand ambassador. The announcement coincides with the company’s 23rd anniversary in India, marking a key milestone in its journey. Additionally, this development follows the recent launch of the Kylaq, Skoda’s first sub-4m SUV in the country, further reinforcing its commitment to expanding its footprint in the Indian automotive market.
As part of this collaboration, the brand aims to strengthen its market position through engaging campaigns. To kick off the association, the first advertisement featuring Ranveer Singh alongside the newly launched Kylaq SUV is scheduled to premiere soon.
Commenting on the partnership, Ranveer Singh said, "I am thrilled to be Skoda Auto India's first-ever brand superstar. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to excellence, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of Skoda Auto in India."
Skoda Auto recently celebrated 25 years in India, marking a significant milestone in its journey of growth and expansion. The brand entered the Indian market in January 2000, becoming the first Volkswagen Group brand to set up operations in the country. With a manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Skoda began its local production with the Octavia, which became its first assembled model in India.
Skoda Auto’s presence in India began with the launch of the first-generation Octavia, initially assembled using imported components as the company established its manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Over the years, models like the Fabia, Rapid, Superb, and Kodiaq helped strengthen its foothold in the market. A significant milestone came in 2018 when Volkswagen Group appointed Skoda to lead its operations in India. This led to the development of the MQB-A0-IN platform, designed specifically for the Indian market. The first model based on this platform, the Kushaq, went into production in Pune in 2021, followed by the Slavia sedan in 2022.
