Montra Electric has strengthened its presence in the electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) segment with the launch of a new manufacturing facility in Ponneri, Chennai. The plant, operated under TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Private Limited, marks a significant step in expanding the company’s EV production capabilities.
The inauguration was led by Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Limited (TII), along with Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TI Clean Mobility Private Limited (Montra Electric), and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles. This new facility is expected to boost the production of e-SCVs, reinforcing Montra Electric’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

The plant focuses on the small and light commercial vehicle (SCV/LCV) segments, addressing the rising demand for sustainable mobility. Strategically positioned along the Kolkata highway, just 35 kilometers from Chennai, the facility ensures efficient distribution across key markets.
Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Private Limited), said, “We are thrilled to inaugurate this state-of-the-art plant in Ponneri. This facility is a testament to our vision of delivering cutting-edge, high-performance e-SCV. The launch of this plant not only strengthens our production capabilities but also reinforces our commitment to providing industry-leading EV solutions.”
Montra Electric’s newly inaugurated plant will focus on producing the EVIATOR, the company’s latest electric small commercial vehicle. Designed for efficiency and performance, the EVIATOR offers a certified range of 245 km and a real-world driving range of 170 km. It delivers 80 kW of power and 300 Nm of torque, making it one of the most capable models in its segment. To enhance durability, Montra Electric is offering an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh kilometers. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with advanced telematics, ensuring over 95% fleet uptime, making it a strong contender in the growing e-SCV market.
